INTERVIEW: Captain D.K. Sharma | Sacrifices at the Frontier #11


This solo discussion was part of the Homemaker story project, initiated by Tell Me Your Story. I was Project Lead and moderator.

 

An Executive Officer, Captain D.K. Sharma specialised in Navigation & Direction (ND) during his formative years. He navigated two frontline Kashin class guided missile Destroyers, incl. one during Kargil conflict. He commanded a Mine Counter Measure Vessel (MCMV) and Pilotless Target Aircraft Squadron. An alumnus of DSSC Wellington, he found his calling as the Spokesperson of Indian Navy. In chair for almost a decade, the officer handled matters of the media, image building and kept the countrymen abreast with the events happening in Indian Navy. He was awarded Visisth Seva Medal (V.S.M.) by the President of India in 2016 for meritorious service. He retired in Aug 2019, after a glorious innings spanning 32 years, and is presently is associated with "Bharat Shakti”.
